The Journal of Computers, Mechanical and Management is owned and published by AAN Publishing, an academic publisher registered in Malaysia. This page sets out the publisher's identity, operational structure, registered details, funding model, and the working relationship between the publisher and the journal's editorial team. The publisher's corporate website is at aanpublishing.org.
AAN Publishing is a sole proprietorship registered in Malaysia, established in 2020. The publisher operates from its registered office in Kedah Darulaman, Malaysia, and is solely owned and managed by Dato' Syed Azuan Syed Ahmad.
Dato' Syed Azuan Syed Ahmad is the sole owner of AAN Publishing and serves as the publisher's principal officer. In his role at AAN Publishing, he is responsible for the publisher's operational, administrative, and financial functions, including hosting and infrastructure, indexing-application coordination, and external correspondence with indexing services and other third parties. He also serves as the journal's Publication and Managing Editor on the editorial side, in which capacity he supports operational coordination of the journal's editorial workflow. The two roles are operationally distinct: editorial decisions on individual manuscripts are made by the journal's Editor-in-Chief and editorial team, not by the publisher.
AAN Publishing currently hosts the Journal of Computers, Mechanical and Management as its sole journal title. The publisher's stated future direction includes launching additional journal titles, scholarly book publishing, and academic conference partnerships. Any future journals launched by AAN Publishing will be governed by the same standards of editorial independence, peer review, publication ethics, and open-access licensing as the present journal. Information on AAN Publishing's full activities, current and forthcoming, is available at aanpublishing.org.
AAN Publishing is funded through Article Processing Charges paid by authors of accepted manuscripts, with operational costs underwritten by the publisher during periods when APC revenue does not fully cover hosting and infrastructure expenses. The publisher does not derive income from advertising, sponsored content, or sale of subscriptions. Full details of the journal's APC structure, including the dual-tier rate effective 1 October 2026 and the World Bank-tier waiver scheme, are on the Article Processing Charges page.
The publisher and the editorial team operate under a clear separation of responsibilities. The publisher is responsible for the journal's hosting, technical infrastructure, financial administration, and external coordination with indexing services, registries, and preservation networks. The editorial team is responsible for all decisions regarding the acceptance, revision, or rejection of submissions, as well as for the development and application of the journal's editorial and ethical policies. The publisher has no role in editorial decisions on individual manuscripts. Editorial authority rests entirely with the Editor-in-Chief and the editorial team. The full statement, including the journal's commitment on editorial submissions, is on the Editorial Independence page.
AAN Publishing currently does not hold formal memberships in publisher-side associations such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association (OASPA), the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP), or the International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers (STM Association). The publisher and the journal nevertheless align their operational practice with the published standards of these and other relevant bodies, including the COPE Core Practices, the ICMJE Recommendations, the CRediT taxonomy, and the FAIR Data Principles. The publisher will consider formal applications for membership in COPE and OASPA as the journal's portfolio expands and as eligibility criteria are met.
All articles published by AAN Publishing in the Journal of Computers, Mechanical and Management are released as open access immediately on publication, under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) Licence. AAN Publishing is committed to the long-term availability of the journal's published content. Preservation arrangements, including participation in distributed preservation networks, are described on the Archiving and Preservation page.
The journal is hosted on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, an open-source scholarly publishing system developed and maintained by the Public Knowledge Project. The publisher is responsible for hosting administration, security, backups, and platform updates.
