Policies

1. Open Access Policy:

The Journal of Computers, Mechanical and Management (JCMM) is dedicated to promoting free and open access to its content, believing that it benefits the scientific community and the public by allowing unrestricted access to research findings. Our open-access policy ensures that all published articles are freely available on our website without any subscription or access fees. The journal supports itself and maintains its high standards of peer review and publication processes through an Article Publishing Charge (APC) of USD 150, which is required upon acceptance of an article for publication. This fee covers the costs associated with manuscript processing, online hosting, and archiving services, ensuring that your work is accessible and preserved for the long term.

2. Peer-review and Proofing Policy:

JCMM employs a rigorous single-blind peer-review process, ensuring that the review is impartial. The identities of the reviewers are kept confidential from the authors. Each submission is evaluated by at least two independent experts in the relevant field to ensure the manuscript's originality, technical quality, and contribution to the field. Authors can expect the review process to take approximately 2-3 months. Detailed feedback will be provided, and authors are encouraged to use this feedback to improve their manuscripts, whether they are accepted, require revisions, or are not accepted for publication. Upon acceptance, each manuscript undergoes a meticulous proofreading process to guarantee the accuracy and quality of the published work.

3. License:

All articles published in JCMM are under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) License. This license supports and facilitates the aforementioned activities by requiring that the original work be appropriately credited, not used for commercial purposes and that any derivative works be distributed under the same or compatible license as the original. This approach balances the journal's commitment to open access with the necessity to preserve the copyright ownership of the content by the original authors. In line with this policy, JCMM retains copyright ownership of the published content, underscoring our commitment to promoting academic freedom and the widespread dissemination of knowledge within the constraints of protecting and respecting authors' intellectual property rights. By ensuring that proper attribution is a cornerstone of our licensing, JCMM fosters an environment of respect for the academic contributions of our community, facilitating the ethical sharing and use of research findings.

4. Ethical Principles and Publication Policy:

Maintaining the highest levels of integrity and ethical standards is a cornerstone of JCMM. We expect all parties involved in the publication process—authors, reviewers, and editors—to follow the highest ethical standards, adhering to guidelines against data fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, and unethical research practices. The journal permits the use of AI tools for improving the quality of writing and analysis, provided that the core contribution is the authors' original work and AI-generated content is clearly identified and used responsibly.

5. Plagiarism Policy:

JCMM is committed to upholding the integrity of the scientific record and uses Turnitin to detect instances of overlapping and similar text in submitted manuscripts. We allow a similarity index of up to 15% for original research articles and up to 25% for review articles. Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their work and must obtain necessary permissions for any copyrighted material included in their submissions. Detected instances of plagiarism will result in serious actions, including rejection of the manuscript or retraction of published articles.

5. Editorial Policies:

We adhere to the following editorial policies:

  • Article Retractions: JCMM will retract articles in cases of proven scientific misconduct, significant errors that invalidate the work's conclusions, or ethical breaches. Retractions are clearly stated, explaining the reason for retraction to maintain the integrity of the scientific record.
  • Corrections and Errata:  Authors may request corrections or submit errata for minor errors. The journal will review these submissions and publish corrections as necessary, ensuring the accuracy of the published record.
  • Expressions of Concern: Should there be significant concerns regarding the integrity or validity of published work, JCMM will investigate and, if necessary, publish an expression of concern, followed by a detailed explanation upon the conclusion of the investigation.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: JCMM is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in its editorial practices, peer review, and authorship. We strive to ensure a broad representation of voices from different geographical regions, cultures, and academic traditions.
  • Data Sharing and Transparency: To foster scientific transparency and reproducibility, JCMM encourages authors to share their research data, methods, and code in publicly accessible repositories or as supplementary material in the publication, where applicable and ethically permissible.
  • Conflict of Interest Policy: Explicitly state how the journal handles potential conflicts of interest of authors, reviewers, and editors to ensure transparency and fairness in the publication process.
  • Appeals and Complaints Procedure: Outline the process for authors to appeal editorial decisions or file complaints regarding the peer-review process or other concerns, providing a clear avenue for resolution.
  • Authorship Criteria and Changes: Define the criteria for authorship clearly, including contributions that qualify for authorship and the process for adding or removing authors before publication.
  • Post-Publication Discussions and Corrections: Encourage post-publication commentary and critique by the scholarly community, detailing how the journal handles comments on published work and the process for publishing corrections, clarifications, or retractions.
  • Research Ethics and Consent: For journals publishing research involving humans, animals, or sensitive data, include policies on ethical research practices, including the requirement for ethics committee approval and informed consent
  • Patient Privacy and Confidentiality: If applicable, outline how the journal protects the privacy and confidentiality of research subjects, particularly in medical or psychological research.

7. Adherence to COPE Guidelines

The Journal of Computers, Mechanical and Management (JCMM) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. As part of this commitment, JCMM adheres to the guidelines set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). These guidelines inform our practices in dealing with potential ethical issues, ensuring a fair and unbiased publication process. We require all participants in the publication process, including authors, reviewers, and editors, to familiarize themselves with and adhere to these guidelines. JCMM addresses allegations of misconduct promptly and follows COPE’s flowcharts for resolving cases of suspected ethical issues.
